Mohamed Salah Signals Possible Liverpool Exit: “I Feel Like a Scapegoat”

Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has sent shockwaves through the football world after expressing deep frustration with how Liverpool’s management has been treating him in recent months. The 33-year-old forward suggested that the club is unfairly placing the blame for its struggles on him, despite his years of outstanding contributions and record-breaking performances.

Salah’s comments came shortly after Liverpool’s dramatic 3–3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday in the English Premier League. The match result added more pressure on the club, and Salah did not hold back when speaking about his relationship with management and head coach Arne Slot hinting strongly that his future at Anfield may be coming to an end.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Salah said:

“I’m extremely frustrated, to be honest. I have given so much to this club, and everyone has seen that over the years especially last season. I don’t know… it feels like I’m being made a scapegoat. That’s how I felt, and that’s how I still feel today.”

He continued:

“It’s very clear that some people want to put all the blame on me. The club promised me many things during the summer, but nothing has happened so far.”

Salah also revealed that his relationship with the manager has suddenly changed:

“My relationship with the coach was good, and then it suddenly stopped. I don’t know why. From what I see, it feels like someone doesn’t want me at the club anymore.”

Last season, Salah delivered one of the best campaigns of his career 34 goals and providing 18 assists across 52 matches in all competitions. However, with Liverpool struggling this season, his numbers have naturally dipped, with 5 goals and 3 assists in 19 appearances so far.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become the club’s third-highest scorer of all time, behind legends Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. Yet his recent tone suggests that the iconic era he built at Anfield might be nearing its end.

He added:

“I don’t think I’m the problem. I’ve worked hard for this club and earned the respect I deserve. I shouldn’t have to fight every day for my place I’ve proven myself already.”

And Salah concluded with a statement that fueled even more speculation:

“I don’t know what will happen next. I will stay at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations because I really don’t know what will happen afterwards. This is unacceptable to me, to be honest. I never understand why things like this happen.”
